Cocktails to Try Out During Quarantine

This year isn’t quite the roaring 20’s we had in mind; however, even during quarantine we can still have fun indoors. The following five cocktail recipes are ideal for your zoom happy hour or date-night in. Each drink represents a unique aspect of the great outdoors we miss, so you can feel the beach, park and patio are only one sip away!

Lavender Cocktail
1 ounce gin
1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
½ ounce lavender juice (see recipe below)
Sparkling water
Lavender Syrup:
½ cup dried lavender
½ cup sugar
1 cup and 3 teaspoons of water
Lavender Syrup Mixture:
In a small clean saucepan, add 1 cup water and ½ cup dried lavender, bring to a boil. Let mixture simmer for 5 minutes before removing pan from heat and allowing the mixture to steep for 20 minutes. Then, Strain out lavender petals and discard.
In another small saucepan, add your 3 teaspoons of water and ½ cup sugar over medium-high heat. Consistently stir mixture until sugar is dissolved. Let simmer for 5 minutes, then add your lavender liquid. Whisk until both mixtures are well-in-fused together. Remove from heat and store in a mason jar.
To Make Drink:
Using a cocktail shaker, add gin, lemon juice and lavender syrup with ice. Shake until cool, then strain into glass. Add a splash more of sparkling water and gently stir. Garnish with lavender sprigs (and lemon slices)

Frosé
4 cups diced watermelon and fresh (or frozen) strawberries
1-2 cups ice (start with 1)
½ bottle rosé wine
1-2 teaspoons sugar to taste (optional)
Place all ingredients in a blender and slowly process until smooth. Add more ice for thicker slush, as well, add slightly more or less fruit depending on your taste. Garnish with a watermelon or strawberry slice!

Quaran-Tea
4 ounce herbal tea (chamomile, Earl Grey or hibiscus tea)
1 lemon wedge
1.5 ounce gin, bourbon, scotch, or rum
Spoonful of honey
Dash of cinnamon (optional)
In a mug of your choice, combine honey, lemon wedge juice and liquor. Fill mug with steeped tea and stir to mix together. Add a dash of cinnamon for a spicier cocktail.

Cosmopolitan
2.5 ounce vodka
½ ounce triple sec
½ ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
½ ounce cranberry juice
Add vodka, triple sec, lime and cranberry juice into a cocktail shaker. Add ice, cover and shake for 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Pineapple Mango Daiquiri
4 ounces Flor de Caña 7 YO rum
2 ounces freshly squeezed lime
1 cup fresh (or frozen) pineapple
1 cup fresh (or frozen) mango
1 ½ cup ice
Add all of your ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a cocktail glass and garnish with a slice of pineapple.
