This Summer Pairing is a 'Mint' Match
Ready to add a hint of mint to your summer soirée? It’s the perfect way to add a burst of fresh flavour to beverages and salads, and is the ideal herb to grow in your backyard.
The prep begins by gathering some fresh mint from your potted herbs - emphasis on potted as mint can monopolize a garden. Being a perennial plant, it is a herb that keeps on giving year after year!
Then we sip to the start to any good summer soirée with a mint mocktail (or cocktail) hour.
Mint-O-Matic Mocktail
Begin with soda (vodka or gin is optional) and a twist of lemon. Add sliced cucumbers and 3-4 garden fresh mint leaves - slap to extract flavour. If you desire a more concentrated tang of mint, simply chop or tear the leaves, and presto - mint-o-matic!
Mint-O-Melon Salad
Follow with the burst of refreshing watermelon salad! Cube three slices of watermelon and one small cucumber. Add some feta cheese, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with savoury mint. The aromatic mint finishes the salad with an essence of summer!
